Review

What can I say about Kurt Vonnegut? What can I say about Cat’s Cradle?

The first book I read by Kurt Vonnegut was Timequake. I was new to reading then, and was asking around for things to read. A friend I knew then suggested I read Kurt, among others. And so I did.

This is the second book I’ve read by Mr. Vonnegut. Though I thought I had read Slaughterhouse Five. I haven’t or I can’t remember having read it.

Cat’s Cradle was hilarious. Each chapter, each line was hilarious, dark at times, but humorous. The plot seems nonsensical at times, but logical. Each action leads to the next - as we follow and unnamed writer who becomes the president of a nation - but in Vonnegut fashion, it does not matter.

I loved the ending of the book - a perfect round circle, a perfect to tie all things off.

One added bonus in the audiobook edition of Cat’s Cradle was that there was an interview with Mr. Vonnegut at the very end of the book. It was like icing on a cake.
