I picked this poetry collection partly out a desire for research. I am working on my next collection and wanted to see how others have written about similar things.

This book was not that.

I don’t know why, perhaps because I don’t share their history, I have a tougher time relating to poems such as these. These are specific poems - about a specific people living in a specific time in America.

There were some poems in here, that touched me - about soldiers and the things they did.

Poetry should be heard. I would have enjoyed this more, were I reading it. Ideally, a hardcover or paperback. But ebook would have been fine too.
