I loved this book. The recommendation for this book, like so many others recently, came through a post in the TCS biblio group.

It was such a breath of fresh air, both because I have not read a book like this before in my life, and because the last two books I’ve read - The Courage to be Happy and Breakneck were non-fiction books.

This book is ostensibly about a hostage situation after a robbery at a cashless bank goes wrong. This book is about so much more than that.

I loved the structure of the book - how it was written. I loved that each new chapter felt like peeling layers off of people. Of the author consistently surprising us, or me, at least. Of finding so many wonderful and beautiful love stories. Of so many wonderful and beautiful people.

There are so many things uttered as fact in this book that hold so true - about love, marriage, kids, and so much more. So many true things. And it’s funny, so damn funny even though the topic at hand is quite serious indeed.

All the characters have depth and though they may start as caricatures, the more you read, the more you realise how true that line is - I contain multitudes.

I loved reading this book, I hope you will too. Just, pick it up!
