I saw this in Gruber's review of the iPhone 18 Pro,

I didn’t review the iPhone 17 Pro until last week, when I unabashedly declared it the best phone Apple had ever made. The iPhone 18 Pro is only different from the 17 Pro in ways that make it better. Thus, it is clearly now the new best phone Apple has ever made. It’s the culmination of an entire decade of year-after-year iteration on the iPhone X’s ground-up redesign. It’s the best version of the most successful product ever made. And yet by nature of how the iPhone 18 Pro improved in the last year, it’s not exciting at all. How jaded we all are.

And that explains the feeling I have as well. If a man like Gruber can go without reviewing the Pro phone for a year, of course I can feel the same way about book reviews and other things. I need to write things in the moment, like the two poems I wrote last night while walking. Like this thing I'm writing now.

Apple Shortcuts has always been a good idea in desperate need of a simpler interface. It’s a hugely powerful tool, essentially a way for users to visually create scripts that take actions automatically and across apps. But even creating simple shortcuts can be complex and brittle, and the app itself doesn’t exactly help you along. At WWDC, though, Apple touted AI as the way to make the app easier to use. Cecilia Dantas, a product marketing manager at the company, called the new system “more approachable than ever.”

This is the one feature that I am super excited about, though I’m not sure if it will work on my iPhone.

Though the use cases I have are fairly complicated ones, so I’m not sure if it will work for that.

The latest iPhone 17 Pro Max is still stuck at 12GB of RAM, presumably not enough to run this same model.

We are getting closer to the dream I have of on-device smart enough AI.

This means two things - my next Mac needs to have maybe 32GB memory. And Apple needs to add more than 16GB to the iPhone Pros. I know they need to manage power - RAM eats power.

Or, we get an even better model which runs on even less memory. Less likely though.
