Gemini will use Volvo’s external cameras to interpret parking signs by Andrew J. Hawkins

Gemini is gaining the power of sight and mobility. Today at the I/O conference, Google and Volvo announced that the AI-powered assistant will be able to access external cameras in the upcoming EX60 SUV to help explain and interpret its surroundings to vehicle owners. The upgrade is possible thanks to Volvo’s use of Google’s embedded Android Automotive as its vehicle operating system.

This will be a useful feature. I find myself using Claude to interpret the signs all the time. It would be a better experience if you get it in the car directly.

Finland did not overreact to Friday's suspected drone incursion, minister says

Many other countries have SMS-based alert systems that do not require people to have a third-party app installed to receive essential alerts and information, as they are sent directly to the devices.

I was wondering about this when the thing happened on Friday. The first I came to know about it was a WhatsApp message in a group. Then after follow through got a message that the situation had cleared.

All the while, I kept thinking, I should have received a message on my phone - directly from the government - as a push notification or SMS. Weird that we don’t have it here in Finland.

South Korea Floats 'Citizen Dividend' Using AI Profits - Slashdot

Presidential policy chief Kim Yong-beom said in a Facebook post that a portion of the profits and tax revenue derived from the artificial intelligence boom "should be structurally returned to all citizens." That is because, Mr Kim argued, the economic gains from AI are based at least partly on industrial infrastructure built by the country over five decades.

Perhaps one way to do this. Perhaps the easiest way.
