Slow Productivity

NONFICTIONPRODUCTIVITY

Notes

It is difficult to measure productivity in a knowledge worker context, hence we often equate busy work - replying to emails, chats, etc as a proxy for actual work. Which is not good as it leaves no time for actual deep work.

The thesis of this book is these three things-

  1. Do fewer things
  2. Work at a natural pace
  3. Obsess over quality

What I liked about the book as it drew to a close were the writer stories. Which is not what I was expecting when I started reading this book.

I love reading about writing and writing about writing.

The final chapter about obsessing over quality seemed like it would be the most important one, but I got the least amount of actionable insights from it.

Which means -

  1. I am either doing quality work already.
  2. Or, there is limited scope to this type of work in what I am doing.
