It can transport you, across time and space

Here's what I do.

I get up, do yoga, take a shower, eat, put my headphones on, kiss Prerna good-bye and then walk to the metro. While I'm walking to the metro I am listening to ATP.

Once I step inside the metro, I find a seat, open my bag, takeout the book I'm reading, pause the podcast, open the Music app, go to all songs, and press play.

For the next twenty odd minutes as I go from Matinkylä to Sörnäinen, I read my book while the music, plays in the background.

Previously, I used to do this routine on the bus.

The list of songs I would listen to, was slightly different then. These days it mostly starts with Linkin Park's From Zero.

Today, when I played this album, these songs in the kitchen, I found myself transported to the story I was reading in the metro. The music felt like the background score to the story.

I was transported. Not just to the metro, but to the story I was reading, I was in, then.

Music has the power to transport you to places. Places where you had heard it in a certain context.

Music can transport you, across time and place.
