Original art

No art is original. Everything we make is a remix of things that have come earlier.
We combine things from disparate domains and create something.
We stand on shoulders of giants.
Great artists steal.

A few examples of this:

  1. Apple copying the GUI from Xerox
  2. Van Gogh copying the Japanese painter Hiroshige.

I used to do this as a child. We all do! Drawing (copying?) Pokémon. That’s how a lot of us learn to draw. Right? Use tracing paper to draw something complex. Something we don’t know how to make yet. And then you do.
