Apple announced new iPhones, new Apple Watches and new AirPods today.

Some thoughts.

/Watches

• Series 10 !!
• New sizes - 42 and 46 mm. These were rumoured to go much larger in size. They did not. I have a Series 8 45mm. I wanted to live in a world where this was the smaller size. 😆
• New titanium finish.
• New finish for the Ultra.

/AirPods

• New Series 4 with two models one with and one without ANC. Till they do something about the battery situation on the AirPods, I don't think I will buy one. But these strike a good balance for those who do not want the in-ear nature of the Pros.
• AirPods Pro will function as hearing aids.
• AirPods Max in new colour.
• Everything charges via USB-C.

iPhones

• The colours on the base model look so damn good! Give the Pros some colour Apple!
• This iPhone 16 ad was so fun. The best part about the event for me.
• Camera/Apple Intelligence button. Some neat tricks there.
  • The capacitive nature of the button might allow other apps to use it in interesting ways. I am not sure if it is allowed though.
  • Using the same button for Apple Intelligence even in the ad looked a little weird. If it were at the power button level, sure. But in portrait down below, I am not sure how comfortable it would be.
• iPhone 16 Pro gets the 5x tetraprism camera. Also new 48mp ultra-wide lens. Yay for both.
• That desert colour looks good.
• Apple really wants you to use iPhones to shoot movies. Some people are already doing it. As Apple keeps reminding with each new Pro model. Is this why we can't have fun colours on the Pro line?

event+summary

• Not much new stuff was announced. They spent a lot of time talking about AirPods but the only new thing that was announced was the AirPods 4.
• This format felt a bit boring and long.
• iPhones really are like cars. Just get the one released for the year you need to get one.
