Designing a book

I am reading Murakami’s Men without women, hardcover.

Usually, all books have the same design, on top of the page, you would have the name of the book and the author. While at the bottom, you would have the page number.

This is book is so joyful in that, the page number is on the right and the story name is on the left, and it moves down with each story. There are seven stories in this book and after every story, the place where the page number appears slips down a little.

Here’s how this looks in the first chapter.

And here’s how this looks in the last.

Books matter. How you design them matters. I will steal this some day!
